Designing with Nature: A Harmonious, Sustainable Home

For this project, our team envisioned a contemporary residence that balances modern functionality with its lush, green surroundings.

Our approach broke down the proposed design into a cluster of three smaller, double-pitched volumes, blending seamlessly with the landscape and offering a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Key Design Elements

  • Clustered volumes with green roofs: The new design divides the structure into three double-pitched volumes, creating a visually appealing cluster that respects the scale of its surroundings. Green roofs further enhance this harmony, creating a natural transition between the new build and its green setting.

  • Strategic glazing for natural light: Large, thoughtfully placed glazed walls flood the interior with natural light while reflecting the beauty of the garden. This glazing not only enhances the indoor atmosphere but also strengthens the connection between the home and its landscape.

  • Visual impact assessment: As part of our commitment to respectful design, we conducted a visual impact assessment to evaluate how the structure is perceived from various angles, including street views and neighbouring properties. This ensured that the design would integrate proportionately within the neighbourhood, offering a desirable and harmonious view for both neighbours and passers-by.

A thoughtful, balanced approach

The aim was to create a home that is both innovative and sensitive to its surroundings, seamlessly merging modern architecture with sustainable landscaping.

This careful balance allows the structure to be a striking yet harmonious addition to the area, serving as an inviting and visually appealing residence for our client and the community.
