St George’s Modular ITU
The Floyd Slaski Architects-designed ‘wrap-around’ modular building at St George’s Hospital is taking shape in the sunshine! ☀️
The scheme will provide 20 exemplar ITU beds on the upper ground floor, seamlessly connecting to the existing Atkinson Morley Wing via a newly constructed bed lift tower.
Five of the ITU bays are isolation rooms, each equipped with positive pressure ventilation lobbies. The design also incorporates various staff facilities and shell space for future expansion.
Floyd Slaski led the design (with Eta Projects Ltd providing MEP), prepared the Employer’s Requirements, secured town planning approval, and is now supporting the Trust in a technical monitoring role, with Currie & Brown as CA and QS, CPC Project Services as PM, AECOM - Buildings + Places as Town Planning Consultants and Create Consulting Engineers.
The scheme is designed to achieve BREEAM excellent and includes SUDS, heat pumps and a substantial photovoltaic array.
Vanguard Healthcare Systems is delivering the construction using a 6m x 3m modular grid and bespoke traditional construction elements for building connections and a link bridge.
